wiki

A wiki is simply a piece of software that allows users to add, edit and delete content on a website. This allows for simple and effective collaborative authoring. Ward Cunningham coined the term in 1994 when he borrowed the name from the “Wiki Wiki” line of shuttle busses at the Honolulu Airport. In Hawaiian the word translates to fast and Mr. Cunningham adapted it to his idea of a public knowledge database. We at GreatGrub have adapted it to our idea of creating a living encyclopedia of food created by a community of people who share a passion for cooking.
