Sommerfeld apple

The Sommerfeld is a large, sweet apple with firm, crisp, juicy flesh. Its flavor is well balanced, sweet, and similar to the Fuji. It is excellent for baking, salads or snacks.

The Sommerfeld was discovered as a chance seedling in a Fuji and Royal Gala orchard in California’s Central Valley and is assumed to be a cross between these two varieties. This attractive apple, yellow green with a striped reddish blush, ripens in mid-August after the Gala but before the Fuji, and stores well into the winter months. This is an exciting new early harvest variety that promises to become a real favorite. It’s the perfect apple for the early summer season!

Use: baking, eating
